Skylight Interactive Ltd. is a web software development company based in London. We’re looking for an energetic and imaginative PHP developer to join our team to work on our exciting Skylight product (http://skylightit.com) as well as a variety of bespoke projects for clients.
The Job
Initially you will be working with two other full-time developer and one product manager, and this team will expand fairly rapidly over the next year.
Your role will be to contribute to the development of Skylight and associated products, as well as to take command of a variety of bespoke websites and web applications for clients. You will be encouraged to learn and develop your skills and we have a lot to share with someone keen to learn.
We almost exclusively use JS and CakePHP, familiarity with these or a similar MVC framework is important. We generally use agile practices such as continuous prototyping, “just build it” and TDD.
The Candidate
- At least five years experience with object-oriented PHP, HTML, CSS development, JS and Cakephp
- Although a degree in a related subject is preferred, real-world experience and personality are more important than formal computer science education
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must
- Excellent analytical skills
- Must be self-motivated
- Must be within commuting distance of Shepherd’s Bush, London
- Must already have permission to work in the UK.
Experience with the following are also a great bonus:
- Javascript (preferably with jQuery)
- MySQL or similar RDBMS
- Unix server administration & bash scripting
- Interactive Design
- Git
- Ruby & Ruby on Rails
- BackboneJS
- Nginx
- NodeJS
